Upton Broad and Marshes is a tranquil haven in the heart of the Norfolk Broads, celebrated for its quiet beauty and rich biodiversity. Nestled on the floodplain of the River Bure, this hidden wilderness features alder carr woodland, open water, fen, reedbeds and grazing marshes. It is home to some of Norfolk’s rarest wildlife, including swallowtail butterflies, Norfolk hawker dragonflies, otters and water voles, as well as nationally scarce wetland plants. The reserve offers peaceful walking trails through one of Broadland’s finest examples of unreclaimed wetland, providing an immersive experience of nature at its most serene.
